Miss Sharon Vail
School Counselor
My name is Sharon Vail and I am the school counselor for students with the last names from Has-Pin. I am excited to be working with the students and families of Clark Middle School. I look forward to helping the students navigate through these middle years; encouraging them to create good academic habits and do their best daily. I hope to help them grow emotionally, become more independent and treat each other with respect and kindness. The students are always welcome to see me. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and my Master’s Degree in Education/School Counseling, both from Purdue University Calumet. I have 17 years experience with high school students as a professional school counselor and have previous experience working with youth in other settings.
Mr. Jacob Biscan
School Counselor
My name is Jacob Biscan and I am the school counselor for students with the last names from Pio-Z. I am so excited to be part of the Clark Middle School family and look forward to working with all of my students and their families. The middle school years are an important time for development in many facets of life and I am happy to play a part in helping my students grow and move toward success academically and personally. I am here to assist all of my students in the fields of academics, social-emotional growth, and college and career planning. For my undergraduate degree, I attended Indiana University Bloomington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in Social Studies. Over the next 8 years, I taught various subjects to grades ranging from preschool to 8th grade. I was a middle school Social Studies and Health teacher for 6 years. After that, I taught preschool through 8th grade Physical Education for 2 years. In addition, I was an athletic director for three years while I was teaching. After 8 years of being in the classroom, I graduated from Purdue University Northwest with a Master of Science in Education in School Counseling. I began my journey as a school counselor at La Porte Middle School and was a counselor there for 2 years. This journey has now taken me to Clark. My door is always open to my students and their families and I am here to help you in any way I can, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Ms. Amanda Jacobs
School Counselor
My name is Amanda Jacobs and I am the school counselor for students with the last names from A-Har. It means a lot to work with the students and families of Clark, where I once walked these same halls as a student. Middle school years can be challenging for adolescents academically, socially, and emotionally. My goal is to support students in developing the skills and confidence they need to persevere and succeed. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Purdue University Northwest, and began my career working in an adolescent psychiatric unit, where I worked for three years. In that role, I facilitated therapeutic groups, provided individual counseling, administered crisis interventions, and helped maintain patient safety across a wide range of needs. Although I enjoyed my experience there, I felt a strong pull toward working in a school environment, which led me to pursue my Master’s in School Counseling at Purdue University Northwest. During my graduate program, I was fortunate enough to pursue a position as a school counselor in a high school for two years. There, I supported students in preparing for life after graduation, helped students develop time management skills, navigate personal challenges, and provided different strategies on how to balance academic responsibilities. I always felt a pull towards working in a middle school setting, and I am grateful that my journey has led me here. I look forward to working with you. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or if I can be of support.
